Aspenbeat Radio: (More) Classic Rock

Curated Classic Rock Playlist
Broadcast on Aspen Public Radio, May 2, 2015
Host: Andrea Young
Having just been in Los Angeles attending a music business conference, I got a chance to listen to plenty of rock radio and new rock bands. I was inspired by it all, and will present some of the great new rock music I heard while there in an Aspenbeat radio show sometime in the next few weeks. But ironically, I was also inspired to go back to 60′s and 70′s classic rock. These songs have so much life left in them to this day. Bob Lefsetz, who publishes a music industry newsletter (http://lefsetz.com/wordpress/) quoted a lecturer, Robert Bond, who just finished teaching a class of 19-21 year olds at the University of Warsaw in Poland. He asked them each to write down the music they liked best, and predominantly they mentioned The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Yes, The Rolling Stones, ELP, James Brown, Queen, etc. When he asked them, ‘Why do you listen to so many artists from the 60′s and 70′s?” they replied at once, “because it was more creative then. You don’t really have that now”. So, for all you old and new classic rock fans, tonight’s show includes music from Ten Years After, The Allman Brothers, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, John Mayall, The Who, Dave Mason, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Airplane, It’s A Beautiful Day and Traffic. Feel free to turn it up.
